Ferrari is one of those companies that can expect to attract a crowd even when, as here, they don’t have much to say.
But they always find something: even when there’s no spectacular new model to announce, there’s a special edition, a special event, or some other activity to report. And the news is always presented by stylish, proud men (always men) in beautifully tailored suits.
Most important car on display is the 599 GTB Fiorano which is on show to the French public here for the first time. This front-engined two-seater is a stunner that was first seen this spring at the Geneva motor show. It replaces the 575M Maranello. Its name is derived from its 5.99-litre V12 engine, which offers 620bhp and 450lb ft of torque, while the B in GTB stands for Berlinetta, signifying its coupe bodystyle.
As well as the 500 GTB Fiorano, the F430, F430 Scaglietti, and the F2003-GA single-seater were installed on the stand.
Fearrari also announced that it was planning some special events for next year to celebrate its 60th anniversary. Exactly what they’ll consist of was not revealed, though we’re promised that owners will be at the heart of its plans. No doubt more details will be discussed at a future motor show presentation.
